River Plate le ganó a Barracas Central 3 a 0 con tres golazos: uno de Milton Casco y dos de Agustín Palavecino. El partido se jugó en la ciudad de Villa Mercedes, en el marco de los 16vos. de final de la Copa Argentina.

En el complemento, el conjunto de Núñez se hizo de la posesión y muchos de sus jugadores aumentaron su nivel. Fue así que tras varias combinaciones, Aliendro recibió adentro del área, la aguantó y de taco se la pasó a Agustín Palavecino para que este defina y marque el 2 a 0 a los 20′.
Instantes después, River Plate se quedó con 10 hombres tras la expulsión del defensor Héctor David Martínez. Pese a esto, a los 28´ Palavecino volvió a estirar la ventaja con un bombazo de larga distancia al segundo palo.
